FILM APPRECIATION PROGRAMME : To read is different from read between the lines. The former requires presence of mind, where as the latter warrants application of mind. To view a film does not need specialized skills but to judge a film wants exceptional creative skills. Keeping in the view CFSAP started Film Appreciation Programme. Film Appreciation Programme is neither art and craft but the blend of the two. Screening films is nothing but spreading “Visual literacy”, it should not deviate from basic social responsibility. Film Appreciation Programme provides ethical plant to such responsibility. Since film viewing commences from infancy, it is always proper to start learning film appreciation from childhood. It was emphasised that though story, acting, direction, music and choreography are important to a cinema elements like lighting, background sounds, nature of shots and camera-work and editing can also either make or mark the quality of a film. The children are discussed these elements with appropriate examples and observations.
At the end of the screening the participants are more observant and they are begun to look at the cinema meaningfully.
